Current Music: new perspective, panic! at the disco
I just went to [info]patd to see what people were saying about Ryan Ross getting ''married.''

This is going to take some serious getting used to.

But before Smith and Urie could move forward as Panic!, they had to come to terms with the past — something that's proven to be tough, given the reaction most fans have had to the split.

"It's one of those things where, it's sad for us to know, but at the same time, it's sort of heartwarming to know there's people that love your band that much that they would genuinely be upset that we were splitting apart," Smith said. "And I think that there was absolutely no way to get around that, and we have to keep reminding ourselves of that. And also knowing that it was the right decision, and as me and Brendon are moving forward and I'm sure Ryan and Jon are moving forward too. ... It's unfortunate that there's no way to sort of get around the initial fan reaction, but it makes sense, and it's amazing that they care about our band that much to really feel that way. Hopefully over the next few months, the music will amend that."

That, however, makes me feel so much better about this. Also, New Perspective is FANTASTIC. And so is The Young Veins "Change." This was definitely for the better. Even if it means the masterminds behind my all time favorite album (Pretty. Odd.) and it's beautiful songs are no longer together.

Current Music: rudie can't fail, the clash
Joe Strummer & Paul Simonon, the Clash

"What made a big difference was the open door policy we had. Anyone who wanted to come backstage could, and it was never a problem. I don't know whether other bands did that. It was good for us to meet people who had come to see the group and converse with them, ask them 'What's it like in your town? What, there are no clubs here? So what do you do?' It was about sharing information and it was good to know what was going on out there, and how people were dealing with their lives. And that spread right across the world." - Paul Simonon

The Man Who Kept Us Safe

Posted on 2009.01.20 at 17:52

The most overlooked fact of the Bush presidency is that there has not been an attack on American soil since 9/11.
By KIRK WHITWORTH
JAN 13, 2009

GEORGE W. BUSH understands how history works. While the victors may write the history, sometimes history undoes the victors, and their victory is shown to be more shallow than at first glance. Looking at the Bush's poll numbers in his waning days of office, one might be tempted to conclude he was a "failure," as just about everyone has triumphantly proclaimed. But this president's success or failure will not be determined by what Americans—and certainly not by what Europeans—think of the man and his policies today, but whether those policies produce the intended results tomorrow.

I believe that they will. And Obama's choices for his national security team suggest that he has a newfound respect for Bush and his choices, a respect that many who know him up close have had for a long time.

"The Hug Poem" by Bradley Hathaway

Posted on 2008.05.08 at 01:45
Current Mood: alone
Current Music: folkin' around, panic at the disco
I read about how you touched them and they were healed.
Or even if someone just touched your cloak, they were forever changed.
You let a broken women bathe your feet in her tears,
And you washed your best friend’s feet.
I am just wondering though, did you just ever hug people?

I mean, I know that it is a silly question and all, I am sure you would have... why wouldn’t you?
But its one of those things that was never mentioned that got me thinking about it.

And how whenever there was a touch from you, sins were forgiven and sickness fell.
I think I’m caught up in my sins, last time I checked all my body parts were properly working, nothing special here.
I am just a kid with a heavy heart these passing sunrises and sunsets.

I don’t think our encounter would have ended up in the gospels or anything,
Because all I really need is a hug.
That is ok for me to imagine, right?
That’s not going to be conflicting with any sort of theology, is it?
Ok good, then hug me.

But not one of these side ways one arm around the neck type hugs,
Or the ghetto right hand clasp fists elbows to chest pit pat on the back back.
Or you put your right arm over my left arm and I put my left arm over your right arm and we make this weird sort of diagonal thing.
Nah, none of those.

Bear hug me, man.
Take your old school carpenter arms and throw them over my upper body leaving my arms dangling underneath yours somewhere and I can barely move them because your squeezing so hard.
But don’t pick me up and make my back pop because I hate it when people do that.

And hold me, hold me here in your arms until I start to cry because I want to cry,
But I just can’t seem to do it on my own.
I have been teary eyed once recently but not even enough for a drip down my cheek.
There's just hurt in my soul that needs to be purged so hold me in this hold pose until the pain is flowing from my eyes and nose.
